“Damn! That’s Good Music!”
A pilgrimage to Sun Records might be deemed essential for lovers of American music. For Kyle Lacy and Cody Gibson, it was the spark that started a fire. Hired as session players, they bonded over a love of Gene Vincent and songs written about muddy water, & the deep spiritual roots of Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Ray Charles. Returning to their adopted home of Harlem, New York, they recorded a debut album blending blues, soul, and rockabilly into one force. The new project featured a lineup of guitar, upright bass, tenor sax and drums, all recorded live.
They booked several tours and released the album, “Currents,” with gusto, gaining fans and friends at every show they played. One year, 50,000 miles, and thousands of hours of stage time later, they are preparing to release a new single – Irresponsible Days – in summer 2018, and are scheduled to make festival appearances at Viva East(MA), Musikfest (PA), and Fayetteville Roots (AR).
